| Saratoga Race Course is the oldest horse racing venue in the United States. It opened in 1864 and is now a national landmark. Saratoga Racetrack is located in beautiful Saratoga Springs, NY. Saratoga is home to the Travers Stakes, which will be run for the 136th time this summer. Like Keeneland and Del Mar, Saratoga only conducts racing for a short period each year. The Saratoga select yearling sale is also conducted during the meet by Fasig-Tipton. This year's sale will be held on August 8-9. The main track at Saratoga is a 1 1/8 mile oval with a 7F chute. The distance from the last turn to the finish is 1,144 feet. There is a main and inner turf course. The main turf course is 1 mile 98 feet, and the inner turf course is 7F 304 feet. | |||
