Horsehat.com Fast Fact: Two of Master David’s
co-owners, Stephen Mack and Andrew Rosen also co-owned and
raced his sire, Grand Slam.
It’s safe to say that Master David was the most traveled
among the 2004 three year-old colts. He was foaled in Central
Kentucky at Hopewell Farm and then later sold at the 2003
Fasig-Tipton Two Year Old in Training Sale in South Florida.
From there he was shipped across the Atlantic to race in
England.
After breaking his maiden in his third start he was sold
to current owners, the American partnership of Georgica
Stables (Peter Minikes), Stephan Mack and Andrew Rosen.
So it was back across the pond to New York for the G2 Remsen,
where Master David ran a strong second to Read the Footnotes.
With gold to mine out west, Master David was back on the
road, heading to Southern California.
At Santa Anita, Master David ran third to St. Averil in
the G2 Santa Catalina before defeating defending Two Year
Old champ Action This Day in the Sham. Never content in
one place for long, Master David shipped back east for the
G1 Wood Memorial where he ran a gutsy second to Tapit. Since
then the son of Grand Slam has run in the Kentucky Derby
(G1) in Louisville, the Kent BC (G3) at Delaware Park and
the Pennsylvania Derby (G2) at Philadelphia Park.
